I passed by this church many a time, but on this cloudy day I knew the clouds would be a great backdrop. I feel the combination of the coming storm and the silhouette makes a strong image.

Once you step out of the gift shop/entrance, there is a this small statue which is set against a backdrop of trees. This ended up setting the whole mood of the visit : peaceful and solemn. I used an external flash and played with the settings as well as the aperture until this was the end result. I cropped the shot to bring the audience closer and thus appreciate the details of the faces.

There weren’t any special details in this shot, but I’m glad I kept it. I changed the color profile and – Boom – there you have it. I like the symbolism of the cross and bell as a silhouette.
